Commissioners try to oust fellow commissioner

Tempers flared during Monday evening’s Bledsoe County Commission meeting, but not over the spreading of treated human waste on area farms, but over a commissioner who is suing Bledsoe County. Commissioners tried to oust Andrew Swafford as a commissioner since he was ultimately suing the county taxpayers, the people he was elected to serve.

Commissioner Andrew Swafford along with family members – Justin Swaff ord, Ronald L. Swafford, and Amanda Swafford – filed a lawsuit against Jeramey L. Johnson and Bledsoe County on October 3, 2023 in Bledsoe County Chancery Court. The Swaffords filed a Petition for Temporary Injunction and Declaratory Relief in the amount of $30,000, plus attorney fees, against the County and Jeramey L. Johnson.
