Women indicted for child abuse of student

The two women accused of abusing a young student in one of Pikeville Elementary’s special needs class were indicted by the Bledsoe County Grand Jury. They are scheduled to be arraigned September 27 in Circuit Court.

A two-count indictment was returned against Shelia K. Schmidt, 64, for child abuse and attempted child abuse. Chloe L. Frizzell, 25, was indicted for a count of child abuse.

They were paraprofessionals assigned to a special needs classroom, and on February 15, the two women allegedly mistreated a child under the age of eight, according to court records. Both women were fired from their positions with the Bledsoe County School System.
