J.C. Smith

J.C. Smith, 78, of Pikeville, Tennessee, passed from this life on Friday, June 16, 2023, after a short illness.

He was a 1968 graduate of Bledsoe County High School where he played both basketball and football. He was employed at Sequachee Valley Electric Co-op for 43 years. He has been a member of Bethel Church of Christ for 59 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Nelline Smith; two brothers, Jimmy and Clarence Smith; and nephew, Gregory Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janie Thomas Smith; daughter, Lisa (Donnie) Nipper; son, Kevin (Michael) Douglas-Smith; granddaughter, Destiny (Chuck) Johnson; grandson, Dajohn Smith; two great-grandchildren, which were his pride and joy, Parker and Payslee Johnson; brother, Paul (Marjie) Smith; and several nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. T.A. Smith and Bro. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Collier Cemetery.
