Hazel Louise Hale Smith

Hazel Louise Hale Smith, 94, of Pikeville, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Hazel was a member of Lonewood The Baptist Church of Christ where she served as Treasurer for 36 years. She was the office manager of Pikeville Clinic for many years and worked with the Tennessee Department of Correction where she retired as the procurement officer.

In her spare time she would volunteer at Mt. Crest Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and traveling with the senior citizens.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Allan “Corkey” Smith; parents, Thomas Franklin and Winnie Emma Simmons Hale, Sr.; brothers, William Hale, Thomas Hale, Jr.; son-in-law, Clifford “Jug” Lewis; brothers-in-law, Donald Smith, Raymond Smith; sisters-in-law, Frances Hale, Eva Smith, Betty Smith, Laura Fay Taylor; nephew, Terry Smith.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Virginia Lewis; grandson, Allan Lewis; great-granddaughter, Layla Lewis; nephews; cousins; and a host of friends.

A celebration of life was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Lonewood the Baptist Church of Christ with Bro. Cecil VanWinkle and nephew Wayne Hale officiating. Burial followed in Lonewood Cemetery.

    So sorry.Hazel was nurse to our first born daughter in 1960 at the Pikeville Hospital. Wonderful Lady.
