James Simmons

James Simmons, 62, of Pikeville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

James grew up in Pikeville, a town he loved and never left. He worked at Bledsoe County Correctional Complex for 40 years and enjoyed working on vehicles in his spare time.

Anyone who knew James knew that he was the most loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He was always there with a funny remark to make everyone laugh and lighten the mood. James will be dearly missed and always remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Powell Simmons and Hazel Elizabeth Simmons.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lea Simmons; children, Addyson “Dione” Simmons, James “Brody” Simmons and Madison “Whitney” Brock; grandchildren, Zane Sherman and Symphony Simmons; siblings, Roy (Pam) Simmons, Sammy Ray (Laura) Simmons, Joyce (Stanley) Crawford, all of Pikeville, Jane (Newton) Snow of Crossville and Janice Keener of Grundy County; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services were held Monday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Simmons Cemetery, SR 101, Pikeville. Burial was in Simmons Cemetery.
