Fire department reaching new heights

Pikeville Volunteer Fire Department (PVFD) has made history once again, this time by adding an aerial truck to its fleet. The aerial is the first to be placed into service in Bledsoe County history. Joining the aerial purchase was a special operations unit that will be used to supplement the tower during operations and several other special operations.

In addition to this, the aerial is believed to be the tallest in all adjoining counties, and possibly East Tennessee, reports PVFD Chief Paul Swafford.
