Road shift decision postponed by Commission

The Bledsoe County Commission met Monday evening, with over 100 people in attendance, to decide the fate of 2,235 feet of Old State Highway 28 in the southern portion of the county. An agreement, drawn up by The Fields’ attorney, is going to be expounded upon by County Attorney Howard Upchurch to be sure to protect Bledsoe County concerning the closure and the new proposed access road being totally funded by the developers. The shift of the roadway would allow The Fields to construct its proposed 4,300-foot runway for its private airport and fly-in development. Upchurch plans to work with The Fields’ attorney to draw up a proposal that is agreeable with both sides. The revised agreement is anticipated to be voted on in a recessed session of the Commission set for Thursday, May 9. For more information on this and the rest of the Commission’s meeting, see the April 21 issue of The Bledsonian-Banner.
