Max Eugene Neal

Max Eugene Neal, 80, of Pikeville, Tennessee, passed away on March 4, 2022,at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on September 18, 1941. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton and Pikeville and of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Max lived a full life. He was retired from Suburban. He loved farming, raising cattle, and selling produce. He also enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Allie Neal; a daughter, Lisa Lane; granddaughter, Amber Neal; and two brothers, Charlie Neal and John Neal.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Gill Neal of Pikeville; one son, Tim (Misty) Neal of  Dayton; two daughters, Tammy (Dewey Dana) Gravett of Dayton, Kathy Mitchell of Pikeville; one son-in-law, Troy Lane of Evensville; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Chrissy) Lane, Brandon Gravett, Kayla Lane, Hannah Mitchell, Noah Mitchell, Logan Turner, and Gwen Turner; one grand son-in-law, Chris Neal of Pikeville; one great-granddaughter, Cassidy Neal; two sisters, Lovenia Thurman and Lois Thurman; two brothers, George (Pat) Neal and Hoyt (Linda) Neal; and several nieces and nephews.  

The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Swafford and Pastor Dana Gravett officiating. He was laid to rest Summer City Cemetery.

Pallbearers for Max were BJ Salmon, JB Brooks, Troy Lane, Gary Lane, Mark Burnett, Scott Wooden and Lealan McSpadden.
