Kendall Paul Swafford
Kendall Paul Swafford, 84, of Pikeville, Tennessee passed away, Saturday, February 19, 2022.
Kendall was the second son born February 9, 1938 to Hub and Ruth Swafford. He graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1956. After graduating from high school, Kendall went west and worked in the wheat harvest in Oklahoma and Nebraska during the summer of 1956. He returned home and worked on the farm with his father from 1956 until 1959.
Kendall got the urge to travel and see the country. Starting in 1960, he drove through 46 states while working for Mayflower Van Lines for about one year.
In 1961, Kendall joined the Army. He served in Munich, Germany in the 22nd Ordinance Division. Kendall bought a Kenworth truck in 1963 and worked in the trucking industry until 1970. Kendall used the GI Bill to get his Pilot’s License and became a professional aviator. After he received his commercial license, he gave flying lessons. From March 1974 to July 1982, Kendall was Hudson Construction Company’s corporate pilot in addition to having other supervisory duties.
Since January 1990, Kendall had lived in Texas and been a pilot for Martinaire carrying UPS packages out of Waco and Dallas, Fort Worth. While flying for Martinaire, Kendall had lived in Garland, Bryan, College Station, and Waco. Upon retirement from Martinaire, Kendall started his own Real Estate business “Flying Land Agent.”
Preceding Kendall in death were his parents, Hub S. and Ruth Peters Swafford; brothers, Thomas V. Swafford, Stephen S. Swafford, Phillip W. Swafford; nephew, Gregory V. Swafford.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his brothers, David R. Swafford and Ronald H. Swafford; sister, Sue Humble; nieces and nephews, Lynne Swafford, Phil Swafford, Stephi Swafford Luttrel, Spencer Swafford, Selma Swafford, Saul Swafford, Kevin Swafford, Russell Swafford, Ronee Beth Swafford, Mickey Hub Swafford, Jeffrey Lee Humble; special friends, Scott and Sarah Blaylock and family; cousins, and friends.
A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, at TY Swafford Cemetery with Scott Blaylock and Mickey Swafford officiating. Those serving as pallbearers were Jeff Humble, Chris Dawson, Mike Taylor, Hub Swafford, Triston Dawson, and David Emiren. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to TY Swafford Cemetery Fund.
