William “Bill” Blankenship

William “Bill” Blankenship, 77, of Flintstone, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side. Bill was born in Pikeville, Tennessee to Jess and Hazel Blankenship.

He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia/Chattanooga. Bill retired from Sloan Paper Company after 32 years of service as Warehouse Manager. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He will always be remembered by his love for food, jokes, pranks, and having a nickname for everyone in the family. He will be dearly missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Blankenship; step-daughter, Samantha Ownby; brothers, Winford and Norman Blankenship.

Survivors include his loving wife, Gail McCall Blankenship; son, Tim (Debbie) Blankenship; sisters, Jan (Denny) Foster, Diane (Harry) DeBoard, and Nancy Shasteen; step-son, Ronnie Long; step-daughter, Tonya Lomenick; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. (CST) Friday, January 28 at Blankenship Cemetery in Pikeville with James DeBord officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 27 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel in Rossville; and from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (CST) Friday, January 28 at Pikeville Funeral Home.
