Mary Joyce Bailey, 90, of Battle Creek, Michigan, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
She was born November 22, 1931, in Pikeville, Tennessee, the daughter of Jack and Cora (Hancock) McCulley.
Mary lived in Battle Creek since moving there with her family at the age of 11. She played basketball in the city league, bowled in several leagues and was a wonderful cook. Everyone loved her cooking. For 15 years Mary worked at Michigan Carton and later worked as a nurse’s aide for five years.
On December 27, 1953, she married Robert Thomas Bailey who preceded her in death on August 29, 2010. She was also preceded by her parents; a great-granddaughter Cleo Coss; two sisters, Nan Hancock and Bess Jordan-Boruszewski; and three brothers, Don Hancock, Sam McCulley and Bob McCulley.
Mary is survived by four children, David Bailey, Dianna Coss, and John (Joanna) Bailey, all of Battle Creek, and Nancy (Randy) Thurman of Pikeville; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Winifred) McCulley of Battle Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Parker of Cornerstone Community Church officiating. Interment followed at Morgan Cemetery.
