Martha Newby
Martha Newby, 80, passed away June 29, 2021 at Generations of Spencer.
She resided on Dayton Mountain for 25 years.
Martha was preceded in death by her father, Lake M. Upchurch, Sr.; and her mother, Alpha B. Upchurch; three brothers, Walter, Willard and Lake, Jr.; and one sister, Christine Demoss.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Newby; three sisters, Hettie L. Rodriguez of Kennesaw, Georgia, Ann (Gary) Gann of Middle Valley and Linda (Dennis) Collier of Graysville Mountain; and her adopted family (all the staff at Generations of Spencer). She loved them and they loved her. They called her Gram.
A going home celebration of life was held Saturday, July 24, at 5:00 p.m. EDT at Summer City Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Jewell and Bro. Les Warren officiating.
