Eva L. (Beach) Smith

Eva L.  (Beach) Smith, 84, of the Mt. Crest Community, Pikeville, Tennessee died peacefully at home, July 17, 2021.

She was a member of Lone Wood The Baptist Church where she served as pianist and Sunday School teacher. She loved music and had a wonderful alto voice. Eva sang and played guitar with the Lone Wood Singers at revivals, homecomings, and funerals of friends and neighbors for many years.

She was a 1955 graduate of VanBuren County High School. Following graduation, she was employed at the local shirt factories and later with the Bledsoe County School System and retiring in 1999 from the State of Tennessee.

Eva was the last surviving child of Dewey and Minnie (Walling) Beach who preceded her in death along with her brothers, Solon and Arvil Beach; sisters, Alova Binkley and Avola Wheeler; her husband of 58 years, Donald E. Smith; and son, Terry Donnell Smith.

Survivors include her son, Rickey (Roberta) Smith; grandson, Dr. Andrew (Sheri) Smith; granddaughter, Anna (Chris) Sapp, all of Pikeville; great-granddaughters, Audrey and Emily Smith, and Ivy Sapp; great-grandsons, Simon Sapp, Wyatt, and Oliver Smith; brother-in-law, Raymond (Betty) Smith of Murfreesboro; sisters-in-law, Hazel Smith of Pikeville, and Agnes Beach of Spencer; her beloved nieces and nephews, a host of church family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Lone Wood The Baptist Church, 15 VanWinkle Road, Spencer, Tennessee with Pastor Cecil VanWinkle, and Brother Dennis Deweese officiating.  Burial will be in Lone Wood Cemetery.
