Storms down trees, knock out power

Crews around Pikeville and Bledsoe County worked to clear debris and restore power after severe weather Tuesday morning, May 4.

A large tree briefly blocked Main Street near Pikeville Methodist Church this morning and another tree was reportedly still blocking Cleveland Avenue near the baseball complex. There are reports of trees being downed throughout other areas of the city and parts of the county as well.

Power was knocked out for much of Pikeville and parts of the valley Tuesday morning, according to Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative’s Outage Map. Power was out to about 1,100 meters, the SVEC map showed this morning, but as of 9:45 a.m. no homes were reported without power in Bledsoe County.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through 11:00 a.m. for Bledsoe County, according to the National Weather Service in Morristown.
