School bus involved in minor accident

A minor bus accident on Summer City Road Monday morning, April 26, sent four students to Erlanger Bledsoe for precautionary measures, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Alan Bailey.

Sgt. Bailey said preliminary information indicated the Bledsoe County bus was stopped and had deployed an eight-way lighting system and stop sign when it was hit by a 2005 Ford being driven by Charles Handcock, 52, of Dayton.

Sgt. Bailey said the bus was loaded with 42 students at the time of the crash. He said charges were pending against Handcock.

Transportation Supervisor for Bledsoe County Schools said the bus involved was Bus Number 8. He said the remaining students were loaded on a separate bus and taken on to their home school.
