Don Wayne Thomas, 78, of Sale Creek, Tennessee passed away December 7, 2020 at Star Regional Hospital in Athens.
Don was a lifelong resident of Sale Creek and a member of Sale Creek Community Church and attended Sale Creek Church of God.
He owned D & S Tree Service and retired from Roper Corporation after 35 years of service. He is known for selling produce in Sale Creek. He liked hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He served as best man at his grandson’s wedding.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lona Thomas; sisters, Wilma Faye Gregory, Georgia Brenda Poe; brothers, Orville Thomas, T.J. Thomas and a great grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Alvarena Thomas of Sale Creek; children, Rhonda (Douglas) Hale and Stanley Wayne (Carrie) Thomas both of Sale Creek; sister, Nyoka Yearwood of Soddy Daisy; brother, Rev. Arthur “Glennis” Thomas of Niota; five grandchildren, Amanda Hale Smith (Devin), Steven Douglas Hale, Hunter Wayne Thomas (Karlie), Corey Lynn Thomas, Cassie Grace Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Grace Hale, Tinley Grace Smith, Timothy Nash Smith, Elijah Peyton Smith and several nieces and nephews.
Service were held Thursday, December 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Goins officiating. Interment followed at Johnson Lewis Cemetery.
