Thelma Jean Matney

Thelma Jean Matney, 78, of Pikeville, Tennessee died October 15, 2020 at home with family by her side.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading her Bible, and was of the Church of God faith.  Thelma enjoyed preaching at different Church of Gods in our surrounding counties and was the cook at Campbell’s Restaurant for 23. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Preceding Thelma in death was her husband, Thomas Harvey Matney; parents, Marvin and Nancy Whittenburg Givens; sister, Hazel Parker; brothers, Buster and Jimmy Givens; great-grandchild, Emmalyn Blaic Long.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Crystal (Daniel) Schmidt, Joy (Leon) Presley, Charity (Scott) McCloud; son, Thomas Corey (Kim) Matney; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Clemma Trussell; brother, Taylor Givens; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life was held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, at Pikeville Church of God with Bro. James Dunn officiating. Burial followed in the Collier Cemetery.
