City gets $550k grant for new sewer plant

Pikeville and 65 other Tennessee communities were recently approved to receive a portion of $26.7 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.

The $525,000 grant will be used to construct a new wastewater treatment plant for the Pikeville sewer system, Pikeville Mayor Philip Cagle said. The new plant will replace the current aging sewer plant, Cagle explained, near the intersection of Highway 30 East and the US-127 bypass.
