Verta White

Verta Virginia (Jean) White, 89, of Pikeville, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Monday, September 16, 2019, after an extended illness.

She was born to Robert and Myrtle Haston on October 13, 1929. She was a member of Wheeler Hill Church of Christ. She was married to  George (Bill) White for 53 years.

Bill and Jean worked many years in the grocery store and restaurant business, both retiring from Fall Creek Falls Restaurant & General Store.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bill; parents, Robert and Myrtle Haston; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Akin and Clayta Rhea White.

She is survived by her children, Dickie (Gloria) White, Mike (Edna) White, both of Pikeville, Julie (Steve) Neely and Cathy (Wayne) Conley, both of Spencer; sisters, Jimmie Moody and Nancy Scarbrough of Pikeville; brothers, Steve (Sandy) Haston and Allen (Sarah) Haston, both of Pikeville; sister-in-law Thelma (Leonard) Miller, Pikeville; grandchildren, Charity (Todd) MacNicoll of Spring Hill, Kelvin (Amber) White of Pikeville, Wendy (Brian) Hensley of Spencer, LaChelle (Dylan) Lee of Spencer, Jarrod and Merridath Watson of Sparta, Morgan White and Elijah White (Ashley), of Murfreesboro, Kyle and Chasity Roberts of Brentwood; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many, many friends; and special friend and neighbor, Tony Brown.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in Wheeler Hill Church of Christ Cemetery.
