Virgil Swafford

Virgil Dwayne Swafford, 86, of Pikeville, Tennessee, died Thursday, August 22, 2019.

He was a Southern Baptist preacher for over 60 years, and a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. Swafford; daughter, Linda S. Smith; sisters, Lucille Wyatt and Gladys Hitchcox; brothers, Curtis Swafford and Harold Swafford.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Tammy W. Sapp of Pikeville and Dwayne L. Smith of Crossville; several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Wanda Thomas of Crossville; brother, J.E. Swafford of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 27, at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vaughn Dunn officiating.  Burial was in Worthington Cemetery.
