Commission considering 18¢ property tax increase

Bledsoe County Commissioners will vote on whether or not county property owners will see a property tax increase of 18-cents per $100 dollars of assessed value. For someone with a $100,000 property assessment, that owner would pay an estimated $45 extra per year.

This would make the rate $2.3860 per every $100 of assessed property value from the current $2.2060. The money would be broken down into funds as follows: General, $1.1485; Solid Waste/Sanitation, $0.1268; General Purpose School, $0.8270; General Debt Service, $0.2438; Education Debt Service, $0.0399.
