Valerie Jane Stanley
Valerie Jane Stanley, age 56 of Pikeville, passed into the Great Beyond Saturday, March 9, 2019 with family by her side.
Valerie lived a full life. As a single mother, she raised two children. She was a cosmetologist for almost 30 years, an occupation she truly loved, owning two flourishing hair salons over the years. An intrepid traveler, Valerie visited all 50 states, the last part of the journey being completed in her infamous minivan camper last fall. Family and friends will remember Valerie as a firecracker and red-head for the ages. She never met a stranger, always had big dreams and boundless energy. She will be greatly missed.
Preceding her in death were her brother, Jake Stanley and uncle Ronald Overholt.
Survivors include her spouse, James “Marty” Roberts; daughters, Vanessa (Dave) Sumner, and Brittany Kirkley; mother and step-father, Janice (Todd) Oviatt, father and step-mother, Floyd (Sybil) Stanley; brothers, James and Todd (Aletha) Stanley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life was held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lora Beth Gilbreath officiating. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made in Valerie’s honor to the Cancer Care Team of Bledsoe County or the charity of your choice.
