Investigation confirmed by TBI

The dream of 1,000 new jobs for economically distressed Bledsoe County by Textile Corporation of America is hanging in the balance, as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) investigates possible “misuse of grant funding” by the company.

TBI began their investigation into alleged mismanagement of $3 million grant funding last June at the request of 12th District Attorney General Mike Taylor, according to TBI Public Information Officer Josh DeVine.

Agents executed a search warrant at the company’s facility recently as part of the investigation, which DeVine said remains active.

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD), which administered the grant, stated they now have concerns if TCA can meet their promises.
