Daniel (Dan) David Stanley, Sr. passed away at the age of 79 on March 22, 2018, due to complications after surgery. He was born in Clarence, New York on January 28, 1939.
Dan married Carroll (Lee) Timms on June 18, 1959. They were happily married for 55 years until her death in 2014. Dan and Lee, along with their three children moved to Luminary, Tennessee in 1972, where they ran a construction business for several years. Upon retirement, Dan and Lee moved to Sebring, Florida. After many years of enjoying retirement in the Florida sunshine, Dan returned to East Tennessee. He enjoyed a variety of activities including landscaping and woodworking.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Carroll “Lee,” son Daniel “DJ” (Kay) Stanley of Crossville, and two great granddaughters, Raven and Sadie Courville of Victoria, Texas.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Tony) Menard of Sandia, Texas and Connie Stanley of Melbourne, Florida; a brother, Harvey Stanley of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren, Jessica (Cory) Istre, Danielle (Scott) Courville, Cori Treadway, Caitlin Marie Leger, Sarah (Keith) McCartt, and Caleb (Kim) Hubbard; seven great-grandchildren, Hayden, Katie, Grady, Averie Grace, Scottie Brees, EllaRose and Hagen, and extended family Diana (Dirk) Selby, Hazel (Kevin) Anders, Floyd and Sybil Stanley, Billy, Johnathan, Bobbie Jo and Mary Ann Hubbard, and several cousins.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family ask for simple acts of kindness in his memory.
