Dan “Danny” Henry Brooks
Dan “Danny” Henry Brooks, 53, of Athens, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
He graduated from McMinn Central in 1981, and graduated from UT of Chattanooga with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He worked for the State of Tennessee Correctional Department as a counselor for the past 25 years. He was presently working at Bledsoe County, “Pikeville” Correctional Institution.
Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Mary Lou Mason Brooks; maternal grandparents, Harlin “Cooley” and Lorriane Vaughn Hamilton; niece, Alekah
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Denise Kujath Brooks; three children, Brian Brison, 29, and wife Amy of White Bluff, Melissa Brooks, 23, of Athens, and Michael Brooks, 22, of Athens; grandchildren, Kansas Brison, 3, and Elijah 18 months of White Bluff; parents, Hubert and Betty Hamilton Brooks of Englewood; two sisters, Sandra Brooks, Lisa Brooks and brother, Trae Atkins of Englewood; two nephews, Cody Elliott of Englewood and Lucas Atkins of Englewood; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service were held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gail Crabtree officiating. Family and friends assembled at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, at the funeral home and proceeded to Mars Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
