Betty L. Givens, 84, of Knoxville went to be with her Savior on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at her home.
She was a long time member of Bookwalter United Methodist Church and B.I.G Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by husband, Paul E. Givens; son, David Givens; parents, Oscar and Maggie Helton; brother, Edward A. Helton; sisters, Dorothy R. Taylor, Edith Gavagan, Mildred Cross, Callie M. Smith, and Nancy H. Helton; and granddaughter, Robin Hinds.
She is survived by daughters, Donna Givens (Bill Morris), Debbie Newman (Ron), Carol Wallace all of Knoxville, and Diana Byrd of Pikeville; grandchildren, Betty Rush (Eddie), Angel Tallent (Jason), Brandi Miller (Chuck), Nathan Lee (Kristi), Tyler Wallace all of Knoxville, Season Byrd (Scott Johnson), and Kimberly Byrd (Jason Myers) of Pikeville; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Montez Helton; several nieces and nephews; church families of Bookwalter United Methodist Church and Cold Springs First Baptist Church; and numerous other friends.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate and loving care. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Following the visitation the family and friends will travel in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service.
