James Holland

James “Parker” Holland, 81, of Pikeville, passed away at his residence Saturday, July 11, 2015.

He was a member of the Sequatchie Valley Church of Christ. Parker loved square dancing, woodworking, horseback riding, whittling, gardening, joking, whistling, helping with the fair, and being with his family which he loved with all his heart.

Preceding him in death were his parents Aaron and Oma Holland; brothers Milton, Grady, and Winton Holland; sister Ila Pursley VanWinkle; great-grandson Lucas DeBord.

Those left to cherish Parker’s memories are his wife of  47 years, Alice Holland; son Ray (Deborah) Payne, Pikeville; daughters Pam (Randy) Sims, Dunlap, Gail (Terry) Denney, Pikeville, Sue Trujillo, Pikeville, Diane Ables, Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister Wilma Johnson; brother-in-law James VanWinkle; several nieces and nephews.  Honorary pallbearers will be his lifelong friend Don McBay and members of the Bledsoe Fair Association.

A celebration of Parker’s life was held Monday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Paul Cagle and Bro. Harold Cagle officiating. Burial was in Denney Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Parker’s Gang Relay for Life Team,” Bledsoe County Cancer Care Team, or the Bledsoe Fair Association.
