Glenda “Nancy” Montgomery Porter, of Pikeville, passed away July 9, 2015.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny J. Porter, of Pikeville; daughter, Donna Worsham; grandson, Chris Worsham, of Boaz, Alabama; and special friend, Mrs. Carol Hankins, of Pikeville. Carol was the sister Glenda never had and the two shared a special bond.
Glenda grew up in Gadsden, Alabama, graduated from Etowah High School, attended Gadsden Business College, Snead Junior College in Boaz, Alabama, and later New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico. She loved to read and was an avid football fan, especially of her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide and Dallas Cowboys professional team.
Whenever you remember Glenda don’t let it be with sadness, but with a smile, for she loved laughter and never took herself, or the world in general, too seriously.
If she were to write a closing to this final chapter in her life, she would say, “Thanks John, it was a heck of a ride,” and for the rest, God bless you, farewell, and thank you for being there.
Services will be Saturday, July 11, at 4:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Hubert Thurman officiating. Visitation is Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. p.m. CDT
