Jessie Louella Lawson Akin

Jessie Louella Lawson Akin, 86, of Dayton, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.

She was a longtime resident of Rhea County who worked at Oyster Corporation for many years. She was a member and very active in the Dayton Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by husband, James Earl Lawson, and second husband, Alva Lewis Akin; one son, James Andrew (Jimmy) Lawson; her parents, Andrew Jackson and Minerva Burgess Mercer; three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include ten step-children, Dennis (Punkin) Akin, Ray Akin, Glenn Akin, Bill Akin, Denise Ruiz, all of Dayton , Kaye Miller of Cleveland Ohio, Patty Filbin of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Dee Akin of Chattanooga, Dale Akin of Rockford, Illinois, Ron Akin of Rocky River, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held February 15 at the Dayton Church of Christ in Dayton with Minister Steve Brown officiating.
