Vern Curry
Vern Curry, 69, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014.
He was a member of Mt. Crest United Methodist Church. Mr. Curry was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was the Post Commander of American Legion Post 207 in Spencer and a member of Fidelity Lodge 10 F&AM in San Diego, California.
Mr. Curry was preceded in death by father Ben Evans; uncles Allen Curry and Kelly Robertson; grandmother Luella Eubanks; and father-in-law Sydney C. Finley, Jr.
He is survived by wife Pamela Finley Curry of Spencer; children Ronald (Demetra) McNair of Cooper City, Florida, Byron Curry of Chicago, Illinois, Tamika Martin Garrett (Roosevelt) of Addison, Illinois, John Michael (Grace) Curry of Fresno, California and Vernor (Vanessa) Curry, Jr. of Gary, Indiana; grandchildren Kailey Curry, Christa McNair, Katali Curry, Waataevin Curry, Alex Roxas, Melane Roxas, Marvin Roxas, Malik Turner, and Tywan Jamel; several great-grandchildren; mother Paralee Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan; siblings Joe (Hattie) Wade of Miller, Indiana, Linda Curry of Rochester, Michigan, Susan Curry of San Diego, California and Wiley Curry of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be September 20 at Mt Crest United Methodist Church. His final resting place is the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. September 18 at the funeral home.
