Johnny William “Willie” Herd

Johnny William “Willie” Herd, 68, of Pikeville passed away on December 1, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a member of the Wheeler Addition Church of God. Johnny liked to ride horses and motorcycles, and play a little basketball.

Johnny was born March 28, 1935 to the late Carmack and Mabel Herd.

He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents; a brother, Joe Herd; and a sister, Helen Hines.

He is survived and will be missed by his wife, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Herd; son, Johnny Lebron (Karen) Herd; daughters, Alfreda Hyatte, Marietta “Jeanie” (Gary) Brown, and Kimberly Ann (Victor) Herd-Ramarez; sister, Evelyn Johnson; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, William “Jud” Lawson, Winton (Rita) Lawson, Kenny Lawson, Namaan (Linda) Roberson, and Ellis Roberson; sisters-in-law, Ola Sharp and Wilma Robinson; several nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Johnny’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday. December 5 at 2:00 p.m. with Johnny’s daughter, Jeannie Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pikeville Cemetery. The family received friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
