Agnes Hazel Oakes

Agnes Hazel Oakes, 88, of Pikeville passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at her home. Agnes was of the Freewill Baptist faith and was a member of Sampson Free Will Baptist Church. Some of her favorite hobbies were sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and reading. She will best be remembered as a gentle, kind, loving Christian lady who was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Agnes was born in East Tennessee to the late Minyard and Hettie Reagan on June 18, 1925. She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents; husband, R.A. Oakes; sons, Randell and Johnny Oakes; brothers, Frank, Paul and Wayne Reagan; two great-grandsons, Bentley Bassamore and Bryan Keith Oakes.
Agnes is survived and will be missed by her son, Rudy (Dionna) Oakes; daughters-in-law, Josie Oakes and Carol Oakes; brothers, Billy (Margie) Reagan of Chattanooga and Howard (Gladys) Reagan of Pikeville; sisters, Louise Patterson of Pikeville and Mary (Carl) Wilson of McMinnville; grandchildren, Keith (Anita) Oakes, Renee (JR) Smith, Kevin (Susan) Oakes, Cynthia (Tommy) Frady, Carie (Mackenzie) Whitaker, and Robyn Bouldin; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jenifer Allison, Canyon, Layla and Jaycee Frady, Hailey Bouldin, and Jarrett Gray; one great-great-grandchild, Lucas Cole Smith; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
A celebration of Agnes’s life was held in the funeral home chapel on September 20 with Bro. Leslie Hickey and Bro. Bill Montandon officiating. Burial was in the Blankenship Cemetery.
