Mildred Smith
Mildred Smith, 80, of Pikeville passed away on Sunday March 3, 2013.
She was of the Baptist faith. Mildred was a member of the Cold Springs Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mildred loved to square dance and go shopping at flea markets. But she was happiest when she was caring for all her kids, some of those that belonged to her, but a lot that did not.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin R. Smith; parents, George and Willie Heard; brothers, Olen, J.T., and Harold Heard; and one granddaughter, Toni Renee Tabor.
She is survived and will be missed by her children, Tobe (Donna) Smith, Danny (Laura) Smith, James Ray (Adriane) Smith, Shirley (Chester) Pendergrass, and Kate (Gregg) Swafford; grandchildren, Chris (Pam) Tabor, Robin (Travis) Terry, Nancy (Adam) Hankins, Angela Kell, Jacob and Nikki Swafford, Mackenzie and Addison Smith; great-grandchildren, Aspyn Terry, Aiden Tabor, Daniel Hankins, Alexis Tabor, Denver Hankins, and Brooklyn Terry; brothers, Homer (Tressie) Heard, George (Gladys) Heard, and Clayton (Lola) Heard; sister, Dorothy Worthington; a sister-in-law, Lola Heard; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends and caregivers.
A celebration of her life was held in the funeral home chapel on March 5 with Bro. Doyle Ashburn officiating.
Arrangements were made at Pikeville Funeral Home in Pikeville.
