Reece Ewton

William “Reece” Ewton, 84, of Smyrna went home on Monday, June 18, 2012.

He was a loving husband and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the son of the late Grady B. and Lora R. Austin Ewton, a native of Bledsoe County and resident of Smyrna since 1970. He was a member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving on several committees for the church. After his retirement from General Electric in Murfreesboro, Reece and Maxine enjoyed many years of traveling and watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Maxine Spangler Ewton; devoted daughter and son-in-law, Regenia and Donnie Moore of Smyrna; son, Mike Ewton of Manchester; grandchildren, Michelle (Jim) Sidney of Woodstock, Georgia, Misty Patton of Murfreesboro, Mike (Sarah) Moore of Brentwood and Reece Ewton of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brett and Ryan Sidney, Gracyn, Sophia and Zoe Patton and Mattie Ewton; sister, Christine Turner and brothers, Johnny (Linda) Ewton and Grady (Bobbie) Ewton, all of Dunlap; loving niece, Diane Turner Fletcher and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 20 at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna with Dr. Ron Brown officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
