James Samuel “Jim Sam” Roberson

James Samuel Roberson, or Jim Sam, as he was affectionately known, of Pikeville passed away at age 96 on October 3, 2011. 

He was a lifelong farmer. His passion was riding horses, and he particularly enjoyed trail rides. He also loved to square dance in his younger days. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family.  

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mildred (Sullivan) Roberson; son, John Samuel Roberson; sisters, Elizabeth Roberson, Dorinda Starnes, Virginia Thomas, Emmaline Leigh, Helen Lang, Margaret Sue Record and Anna Grace Irwin.

He is survived and will be missed by his grandson, Samuel Lafayette “Fate” Roberson; great-grandchildren, John Samuel Roberson, Emili Danielle Roberson and Anna Grace Roberson; brothers, T.Y. (Julia) Roberson and Maxey (Barbara) Roberson; sisters, Nada Myers, Mary Jean (Blake) Roberson and Johnnie Roberson; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

A celebration of his life was held in the funeral home chapel on October 7 officiated by Bro. Jerry Wheeler. Burial was in the Roberson Family Cemetery.
