Nan Hancock

Nan Hancock, 82, of Battle Creek, Michigan died at home Tuesday, September 13, 2011.

She was born May 16, 1929 in Pikeville, the daughter of Jack and Cora McCulley. She married John Hancock in May of 1955 who preceded her in death in December of 2000. She was employed by Joe Ferrari as a stylist and shop manager working in several of his salons for more than 20 years. In 1978, she retired and moved back to Pikeville. For many years, Hancock devoted much of her time serving on the school board of Bledsoe County. Nan and Johnny enjoyed going 4-wheeling, hunting and collecting Indian arrowheads and she loved to fish in her own pond behind her house. She also enjoyed researching family history.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob and Sam McCulley, and Don Hancock; and sister, Bess Jordan-Boruszewski.

Survivors include daughter Evelyn (Steve) Charron; grandchildren Leah (Ed) Peet, and Tim Charron; great-grandchildren Taylor and Ty Peet, Even and Elayna Charron; sister, Joyce Bailey; brother, Jim McCulley. Other children that were special to her were Gracie and Joey Mario, Jon Foster and Myles Hatton; many nieces and nephews.

Services were held Saturday, September 18, 2011 in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in Rigsby Cemetery. Memorial tributes in her honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
