James Earl Potts

James Earl Potts, 78, a Bledsoe County resident, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in a local hospital.

He was a machinist and a millwright. He retired from Millwrights Local 654. He owned and operated Jim’s Trailer Repair for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy. His proudest accomplishment was his family and his farm.

A member of the Hendon Community since 1960, he and his wife, Jean, built a beautiful lake and cabin on their farm, a work in progress, which took 40 years. One of their greatest joys was sharing the cabin and lake each Labor Day weekend with a family and friends reunion.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Emma “Jean” and their children, Yvonne (Vernie) Steedley, Anthony (Denyce) Potts, Kenneth (Ann Niedzielski) Potts, Teresa (Jim) Agnew, Ellen (John Henry) Breland and Russell (Margie) Clark. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Potts of Kentucky.

All family and friends are encouraged to attend this year’s reunion and bring their favorite pictures and stories to share. Share your memories, stories and photos at www.legacyfuneralhome.com.

Arrangements were made by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Soddy-Daisy.
