Mauvine Jordan Brown

Mauvine Jordan Brown, born January 22, 1920, the matriarch of the Brown family and last surviving child of John and Cordia Jordan, passed away on August 15, 2011 at 91 years of age. She was a charter member of the Home Demonstration Club and a member of the Pikeville Church of God. She enjoyed entering exhibits in the local fair and was always there for anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clinton P. Brown; parents, Cordia Mathis Jordan and John E. Jordan; son J. Lee Brown; grandson Ricky Brown; sisters Cleo McMillen, Lee Davis, Eve Whitney; brothers Carl Jordan and Bruce Jordan.

Survivors include son Richard “Dick” (Judy) Brown of Pikeville; daughter Faye B. Robertson of Crossville; son Mack (Roberta) Brown; and daughter Doris (Earl) Morgan of Pikeville; nine grandchildren, Gina (David) Boynton, Perry Brown, Deborah Curtis, Joe Curtis, Penny Curtis, Kim (Chris) Howard, Paul (Kim) Brown, Lisa (Rocky) Evans, and Laurie C. Harris; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchilren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Wednesday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Albert Roberts and Bro. James Dunn officiating. Burial was in Worthington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at First National Bank of Pikeville to the Worthington Cemetery fund.
