Paul Wayne Byerly

Paul Wayne Byerly, 85, of Pikeville passed away on June 6, 2011.

Byerly exemplified the word serving this country, having served in three branches of the United States Armed Forces. He served in the Navy, Army, and Air Force. He finished his military career in the Army Reserves. Later he went on to work for the United States Postal Service and retired from it as a Postal Supervisor. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Byerly was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ether Byerly; and a sister, Jewell Byerly.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Paul Wayne Byerly; mother-in-law, Lillian Zumm, all of Pikeville; daughters, Susan West of Chattanooga, Dena Costello of Jacksonville, Florida, Terri (John) Pierman of Tampa, Florida and Dianne Byerly of Gulf Port, Mississippi; brother, James William Byerly of Sierra Vista, Arizona; grandchildren, Cathi, Ralph, Brandi, Aubrey, Phillip, Travis, Zachary, Randal, Tristan, Brooke, and Jordyn; 11 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. and will be officiated by his pastor, Bro. Doyle Ashburn. The service will be held at Faith Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Pikeville Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Collier Cemetery.
