Richard Spencer Goforth

Richard Spencer Goforth, 82, of Dayton passed away April 29, 2011 at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident of Rhea County who had retired from Watts Bar. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a former deputy of Rhea County and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Ray Goforth; great-great-grandchild Layla Everett; parents Hershel and Fannie Mae Rice Goforth; and brother James Hershel Goforth.

He is survived by his wife Audrey Wilkey Goforth of Dayton; two daughters Barbara Smith of Spring City and Carol Todd Candler of North Carolina; two sons Steve and Jerry Goforth, both of Dayton; four sisters Lena Rose Clark of Dayton, Alva Wooden of Pikeville, Willia Mae Lowrey and Lee Wener, both of Tampa, Florida; seven grandchildren Scott Smith, Kim Smith Johnson, Ronna Bunch, Missy Power, Chris Goforth, Stefanie Eaves, and Brittany Todd; nine great-grandchildren Heather Everett, Tori Smith, Spencer and Bailey Johnson, Brandalynn Bunch, Kylee Power, Cassidy Tate, Brook Eaves and Jaidence Todd; three great-great-grandchildren Adrianna, Lilly and Teagan Everett; special family members Junior Smith, Richard Bunch and B.J. Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held May 2 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Interment was at Rhea Memory Gardens with Military honors.
