James Franklin “Jim” Roberts, 76, of Pikeville passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at an area hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Army, who spent most of his adult life as a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flori Roberts; son, Samuel Trent; daughter, Donna Jean Roberts; parents, Truman and Virgie Mae Roberts; brother, Vinell Roberts; and sister, Versie Fugate.
He is survived and will be missed by his sons, James Marvin Roberts and Franklin Terry Roberts; grandchildren, Alexander Lee Roberts, Lindsey (Shannon) Beach, Joseph Dustin Sears, and James Marvin Roberts, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Truman Beach and Aiden Sears; brother, Tom Roberts; sister, Geraldine Cook; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
A celebration of his life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Winnie Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16.
