William Douglas Angel

W.D. Angel, 88 of Pikeville passed away Wednesday July 14.

He was a highly decorated veteran of the United States Army. He received both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star while serving in World War II.

Angel was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Carolyn; and parents, William and Ola Mae Angel.

He is survived by his sons, Steve (Maria) Angel of Pikeville and Richard (Mildred) Angel of Maryville; brother, Norman (Willie Grace) Angel; sisters, Betty Jewel Selby of Rockwood, Louella Mooneyham of Pikeville, and Mary Ruth Tollett of Cookeville; grandchildren, Stephanie, Chris, David, Kayla, and Steven Angel; two great-grand-children; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside Services, with full military honors were held in the Iron Hill Cemetery on July 17 with Bro. Robert Pickett officiating.
