Caulie Walker Rothwell

Caulie Walker Rothwell, 80, of Pikeville, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2010. Rothwell’s working career included owner of Rothwell’s Cash Grocery, 38 years at Suburban Manufacturing in Dayton, and a local farmer. He was a life-long resident of Summer City community and a member of Summer City Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Walter Rothwell and his mother Nellie Gooch Rothwell; brothers Harold Rothwell, James Rothwell, Clarence Rothwell; and sister Ruth Swafford.

Rothwell, a devoted husband, father and friend is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Ruth Swafford Rothwell. He was the loving father of five daughters, Sheila Tallant, Linda Summers, Kathy Anderson and Robbin Rothwell of Pikeville and Lisa Rice of Athens; four sons-in-laws, Chadwick Tal-lant, Roger Anderson, Wayne Gassaway and Bob Rice. He leaves behind eight grandchildren Patrick Everett, Kelly Summers Hughey, Dylan Roberson, Courtney Anderson, Laura Osnes, Jacob Cantrell, Leah Cantrell, and Jackson Robinson; seven great-grand-children Morgan Price, Skyler Everett, Ashton Osnes, Alexander Osnes, Ella Hughey, Elijah Anderson and Ambrin Roberson; sisters Gladys Rothwell Wallace of Crossville; Ruby Rothwelll Doss of Chattanooga; Jewell Rothwell McClure of Dayton; and brother Clyde Rothwell of Dayton.

Services were held July 13 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gene Rice of Athens officiating. Burial was in the Summer City Cemetery on Summer City Road in Pikeville. Grandsons and Grandsons-in-law served as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation or Hospice of Chattanooga.
