Dale Hughes
Dale Walter Hughes, 65, of the Brayton community died at his home on Friday, April 17, 2009. He was born in Lum, Michigan on November 2, 1943 the son of the late Roy L. Carolyn (Sweatt) Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his son, Devin Hughes; brothers, Donald, Ronald and Tommy Hughes; and his sister Mary Hughes.
Hughes was a resident of Chattanooga until moving to Brayton Mountain. He had been employed as a truck driver with Metropolitan Trucking until his retirement in 2006. He served his country with the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Brayton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Farrell Hughes; four sons, Don Hughes of Murfreesboro, DeWayne Hughes of Pikeville, Doyce Hughes of Dayton, Wesley Hughes at home; two daughters Darla Strawn of Virginia and Dorelle Hughes of Brayton Mountain; 11 grandchildren and two great-grand-children; two brothers, Louis Hughes and Bill Hughes both of Michigan; three sisters Carol Brown of Dayton Mountain, Ruth Hughes of Michigan and Nancy Montgomery of Chattanooga.
