James Lee Worthington

James Lee (Jim) Worthington, 78, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

He enjoyed music, gospel and bluegrass gospel singing, and fishing. Jim was a licensed builder for many years. He was a charter member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.

Preceding Jim in death were his parents, James Wheeler and Lydia Marie Jenkins Worthington; brother, Gordon Worthington; sisters, Lela Mae and Mary Jo Worthington.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Voncile Edge Worthington; sons, Terry Worthington, Pikeville, and James L. (Sandra) Parks, Pleasant View; daughters, Sherry (Cisco) Thompson, Pikeville, and Deborah Worthington, Pikeville; brother, Michael (Pauline) Worthington, Mississippi; grandchildren, Marcus, Lindsey, Justin, Michaela, Leslie, Jason, Tiffany, Austin, Payton; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A celebration of life was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in Brushy cemetery.
